Dr. Gerald and Donna Carey, Blue Springs, Mo., announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda Christine Carey, to Evan William Durnal, both of Mission.
The future bride is a 2001 graduate of Blue Springs South High School and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2006 and 2007. She is an English teacher and coaches softball and basketball at the Freshman Center in Blue Springs.
The future groom is the son of Chet Durnal, Denver, and the late Betty Bullock. He is a 2001 graduate of Baldwin High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in molecular bioscience from Baker University in 2005, and is studying for a master’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Central Missouri. He is a chemist at Midwest Research Institute in Kansas City, Mo.
The couple plan an Aug. 1, 2009, wedding in Kansas City, Mo.
