Shobe

Roy and Ann Shobe, Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a open house from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at 1308 Lawrence Ave.
The couple were married June 26, 1949, in Denver.
Roy graduated from Englewood (Colo.) High School in 1944 and Ann graduated from St. Francis High School in Denver. The couple have spent their married life in Denver, Oberlin, Ottawa, Garnett and Lawrence. They are members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Roy served with the occupation forces in Japan after World War II and served 33 years with the U.S. Postal Service in Englewood and Oberlin. Ann was a homemaker.
They have four sons, Ken, Oberlin; Don, Lawrence; Joe, Wichita; and Andy, Fayetteville, Ark.; five daughters, Cindy Whiteley, Lawrence; Becky Cooper, Edmond, Okla.; Debby Gunsleman, Lawrence; Sandy Rush, Oberlin; and Christy Shobe, Lawrence; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The couple requests no gifts.
