Walt and Jan Houk celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 9 in Branson, Mo., with their son, Kent and wife Lori and grandsons Coleman and Chase Houk;and daughter Kimberley and husband Ryan and grandchildren Zachary and Mackenzie Bickling. A family trip to Hawaii is planned later.
Walter C. Houk and Janice L. Stewart were married Aug. 9, 1959, at the First Methodist Church in Lawrence.
Walt has been in the travel business for over 50 years. For more than 35 years, he coached all ages in baseball, from Little League to semi-professional. Jan has been a homemaker and was the volunteer manager of the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Gift Shop for 15 years. She has been involved in the travel business for the past 15 years. They both are with Travellers Inc. travel agency.
