Douglas County records 132nd COVID death; LMH reports only one COVID inpatient

Douglas County added another COVID-19 death over the weekend.

The death, a woman between 35 and 44 years old, was reported by Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health Monday bringing the total 132 since March 2020.

The county reported only 10 new cases over the weekend bringing the cumulative case count to 25,257. The number of COVID inpatients at LMH Health has dropped to 1.

The county reports there are still 212 active cases, a drop of 37 since their last report.

The county is in the “green zone” on the Community Transmission Indicator with 74% of residents having received at least one dose of a vaccine.

The health department continues to encourage community members to follow updated Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance and also urges them to get vaccinated. The health department administers vaccinations and booster doses at the clinic on the first floor of the Community Health Building, 200 Maine St., for adults and for eligible children.
