Gasoline prices on the rise, AAA says

AAA confirms what we’ve all been seeing at the pump: Gasoline prices are going up.For the first time in six months, the travel association says, customers buying gasoline in Lawrence and elsewhere in Kansas are paying more for fuel than they had been a month earlier.Here’s a look at average prices for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Lawrence, as taken from Tuesday’s Fuel Gauge Report, compiled by AAA:• Tuesday: $1.834• Monday: $1.799• One month ago (Jan. 10) : $1.677• One year ago (Feb. 10, 2008): $2.874″After six months of having the price of gasoline decline, the tide has turned,” AAA says. “The average price for gasoline has increased over the last month in Kansas and the nation, though the prices motorists are paying today are significantly below the levels of one year ago.”Prices also are on the upswing nationwide, AAA says: “Last month, regular gasoline in the nation was $1.79 a gallon. Today it is $1.93. One year ago, the average price was $2.95.”Truckers and others buying diesel fuel in Lawrence have found some relief, however. The average price for a gallon of diesel fuel Tuesday in Lawrence was $2.289, down from $2.472 a month earlier and from $3.355 a year ago.
