Amyx may be set to enter city race
Advertisement
Signs are beginning to look like City Commissioner Mike Amyx will run for re-election. Amyx has scheduled an announcement for 11 a.m. Monday at City Hall. Amyx didn’t want to say what he was going to announce, but former City Commissioner Bob Moody was helping Amyx spread the word of the announcement. Moody has served as Amyx’s campaign chairman in past elections. Amyx could be the only current commissioner running for re-election. Commissioner Sue Hack has already announced she will not seek re-election. Commissioner Boog Highberger has said he’s leaning against running for re-election. The other two commissioners — Rob Chestnut and Mike Dever — are not up for re-election. They have two years left on their terms. The general election will be April 7.

Seems life must be sweet for a do-nothing commissioner. The half dozen or so emails I have sent to Amyx over the past couple years have all gone unanswered. Perhaps it's just because I didn't contribute to his campaign. If you don't tip the barber, don't expect good service.

Whoa there hole (I mean mole) - This city could (and has frequently) done worse than Mike Amyx. We may not agree with every decision he makes, but he does take the job seriously and does what he thinks is best for the city.

I klnow what you mean, Ashmole. I have contacted all commissioners with information about criminal misconduct of a city employee and cover-up by a supervisor. All commissioners have roundly ignored my evidence. My evidence is official documents and not here say. None of these jerks deserves to be re-elected.

Notice that Amyx very seldom states an opinion on a controversial topic until 3 commisioners agree on the outcome. He then agrees or says that "I know how to count, so the decision is made." He almost never takes a stand, so he won't piss anyone off.

It would be good to see Mike back on the Commission.
