Quick Critique: Sporting KC vs. FC Dallas

Finally.

Sporting Kansas City: 4 — FC Dallas: 1

It’s been a long time coming but Sporting KC finally put a full 90 minutes together on both sides of the ball. Graham Zusi played with confidence and it showed. His two superb goals were the clear difference against a FC Dallas side sitting in second place in the Western Conference.

Apart from one defensive lapse that saw Dallas player Brek Shea beat four defenders before passing the ball by Eric Kronberg, Sporting Kansas City did everything right. Missing some key players to national team duties and with Kei Kamara coming off the bench, Sporting looked like the team we’ve seen glimpses of all season.

Most importantly, Sporting earned three crucial points on the road. The victory puts them one or two victories from being right back in the thick of the Eastern Conference standings. With a nine-game home stand slated starting in July, this could be just the boost the team needs to make a serious run in the standings.

More to come tomorrow.
