LFK musician Kawehi gets Esquire recognition for Nirvana cover

She’s Hawaiian-born, was Los Angeles bound, and finally settled in the wonderful state of Kansas (Eudora, to be exact), but she has her own favorite local hangouts so we can feel free to claim her as our own. And this incredible looping, one-woman band, Kawehi, has gotten Esquire recognition for covering “Heart-Shaped Box” by Nirvana, and being described by Ned Hepburn as being “pretty good,” “not trite, overdone or insincere.”
Give it a listen. Then check out this Kawehi video below where she blatantly ignores an audience request to play a Christian cover. It’s pretty great.
