Liberty Hall not to blame for unplugging Schoolboy Q mid-song

For those of you who were at (or heard about) the sold-out Schoolboy Q show at Liberty Hall last night, you might be wondering why he left you on such a cliffhanger, as he stopped mid-song and walked off the stage before his set was over.

Later that night, the artist sent out a tweet saying: “DEAR RAPPER FRIENDS NEVER PERFORM in LAWRENCE KANSAS @ LIBERTY HALL”. That was followed by another tweet that made sure any fans in Lawrence wouldn’t be hurt by the previous one, saying that he sold out the show, and Liberty Hall cut him off. “I’m not mad at da fans y’all groovy,” the tweet ends.

So here’s the deal. I made a quick phone call to the folks at Liberty to clarify what happened, and they had nothing to do with the rapper’s exit. Because the show was all ages, it was required to end by midnight.

Apparently Schoolboy Q showed up late, and was still going 15 minutes past curfew when a manager of the AEG production group that brought him to the venue dropped his music mid-song.

Commence mic drop and bouts of rage via Twitter. And Schoolboy Q and his fans bashing one of Lawrence’s most beloved venues. Liberty Hall has reached out to the artist to get him to clear their name, but has yet to hear back.

“It’s highly unlikely that [Schoolboy Q] will retract any of the negative statements,” says Liberty Hall’s events manager Dean Edington.
