Planning a 4th of July picnic? Check out this week’s savings.

I can’t believe June is coming to a close, and I’m seeing all kinds of 4th of July savings.

When I was growing up, my family always went on picnics. The holiday picnics were planned with friends and extended family. But even better, were those spontaneous outings. My parents would wake my sisters and me up early and tell us we were headed out to the lake for a day in the sun. Sometimes it would just be the 5 of us, and sometimes it would be with a larger group. We’d pack up the car with beach gear and food and grills, and off we’d go. Ahhh, those were the lazy days of summer!

These days, our summers are filled with activity, yes. But mine would be baseball activity. I can’t remember the last time I went on a picnic. Our weekends consist of baseball tournaments and league games for both our boys. Our picnics consist of packing the cooler and eating in the stands between games.

How I long for those lost days . . .
