Week 2 of a Month of Menus…and Some Deals to Help Along the Way

Another week…another set of coupons and some great deals! Last week I started by sharing my family’s menus with you…in hopes that you would see how I make the principle of planning from your pantry and shopping for sales work. If you didn’t get to see it…you can still view it HERE.

This week, I’ve posted my family’s Menus For the Week on SuperJenn. You can go there and see, in detail, what I am feeding my family…with a brief description of how I planned it. This means what I had on hand (and, when I can remember, how I came to have it on hand and for how much), what I will make from scratch, and what I will need to purchase. This is week number two in a month of posting my menus and holding myself accountable..and hopefully inspiring you!

Were you able to stock up a little bit last week? Remember I assigned you to go through your cupboards…your pantries and take note of what you have…then find a way to use it! This week there are a few more good deals that will help you to start your stockpile. REMEMBER: Starting a stockpile doesn’t mean you have to buy 20 of something… it means to buy even one extra to have on hand if you can fit that into your budget. Find the items that are on sale…the items that you use more often…and add an extra to your cart on each trip. If you can afford to do more…then do more!

Today there is a TWELVE HOUR SALE at HyVee that you will want to make sure you hit. You will find:

Skippy Peanut Butter $0.98/ea *If you use peanut butter with any regularity…I would stock up on this item. This is a great price …even without any coupons.

Half Gallon HyVee Milk $0.88/ea (Limit 2)

Washington Braeburn Apples 8/$2 This is an especially great price! Buy some extra and make your own apple sauce. Here is a GREAT slow cooker recipe you can throw together in no time…then throw it in the freezer for later!

Tostitos Tortilla Chips $1.88/bag Buy a jar of Tostitos dip as well and use a $1/1 coupon found in the January issue of All You Magazine.

Suave Shampoo or Conditioner $0.88/ea. Use the $1/2 from the 1-03 RedPlum and get them for $0.38/each! Don’t need shampoo or use that kind? At $0.38/ea this would be an easy item to pick up and donate to a local shelter.

The sales to check out at HyVee that last through Tuesday night:

Jumbo oranges $0.48/lb

HyVee Split Chicken Breasts, Thighs or Drumsticks $0.99/lb *If you didn’t stock up last week…even if you did and have a little more freezer space…I highly recommend purchasing a little extra this week. This is an amazing price for chicken!

Lean Cuisine: These are $2 at Target but you can price match them to $1.78 at Dillon’s. Use the $1/1 Target Printable to get these for $0.78/each.

Small Cube Deep Freeze $129. While a pricey purchase, it might be worth the investment to have some extra storage space if you are planning on freezing meals or stocking up on freezable items like cheese, meat, vegetables and fruit.

This is the last week for several Target Printable Coupons. In particular you can get good deals on

Juicy Juice: Either the Immunity line or regular Juicy Juice. I’m not sure of the regular price..it is between $2-3 dollars. You can use the $1/1 Target printable stacked with either a $1/1 or $1/2 Juicy Juice printable and you can get these for a great price. I plan to make a trip to buy several…I’ll have to find a place in my house to stash them!

Kashi: There are several different Kashi Target Printables that you can stack with manufacturer’s coupons. I found peelie Kashi coupons on the boxes…for $1.50/2. Combined with sale prices and with stacked coupons….I got myself some inexpensive, healthy cereal

What other great sales have you seen this week? What is your most used item in the kitchen that you would like to stock up on?

Have a Healthy and Frugal Week!
