Sunday Again! More Deals and Some Shopping Tips

023Today marks Ryan’s one month birthday! I am amazed that time could possibly go by any more quickly than it did with the other two…but that is exactly what is happening. I am anxious, however, to get back into some type of routine for myself and my family. This week I will return to regular blogging at SuperJenn… I will resume meal planning and cooking for my family (shocker, I know) and I will resume my slightly less than obsessive deal seeking.

Last night I made a midnight trip to both of our local Walgreen’s stores to get my hands on some deals. Baby Ryan has been having some rough nights and tolerates life best when I’m wearing him in the sling…so I made the best of our situation and went shopping with him strapped to my chest.

I have not been shy about my opinion of Walgreen’s and their customer service in the past. I don’t often shop there anymore unless there are some SERIOUS deals… so I find it necessary to say that I received great customer service at BOTH of our local stores last night. I’m amazed, and thankful. I was disappointed that they weren’t stocked with the items I wanted that are on sale this week…but I was able to get some of them.

Walgreen's

A couple of great deals at Wags this week are:

24 ct Zantac $8.99 with $8.99 RR. This makes them FREE after Register Rewards. If you print off this coupon for $5/1 or use the $1/1 coupon in today’s inserts you will actually make money on this deal!

Oral-B Cross Action Toothbrushes 2/$6 with $3 RR. If you use the B1G1 coupon from a few weeks ago and a $0.75/1 from the same insert you will get 2 toothbrushes for a $0.75 profit after Register Rewards.

I’m not sure how much infant formula costs around town but I found Enfamil for approximately $14/can at Walgreen’s. There is an in store coupon for $3/1 this week and there are manufacturer’s coupons for $5/1 from inserts last month. This brings your price down to $6 per can.

Looking for “fillers” for your purchases this week? There are Halloween pencils on sale 8/$1. This is $0.13 each which is a fantastic filler item.

A couple of things to remember about Walgreen’s:
* You cannot use more coupons than you have items (store coupons don’t count in this figure). Thus the need for “filler” items. Register Rewards count as coupons so if you are using one on an item and a regular manufacturer’s coupon you will need a “filler”.
* Only one Register Reward prints per transaction per deal. If you want more than one Register Reward deal you will need to do separate transactions.
* In ad coupons can be scanned upon checkout and will apply to as many of the items as you have purchased. You don’t need to clip 4 sets of ads for the $3/Enfamil… it will automatically apply.
* You can stack in ad coupons with manufacturer’s coupons.

The other big excitement in my life this week was discovering that I could now get the Skippy peanut butter I posted about last week for $0.08/ea at Target. EIGHT CENTS. I love super cheap and unlimited deals.

Target LogoTarget recently began price matching in an attempt to stay competitive with other chain stores (read: WalMart). This week Skippy peanut butter is on sale at HyVee for $1.48 and bananas are $0.38/lb (I know..not as good as the Thursday $0.19/lb bananas at Checkers but I don’t always get to the store on Thursdays) so I decided this was a perfect opportunity to check out how it works.

In order to price match at Target you need to have the competitor’s print ad IN HAND at the store. I left mine at home so I pulled it up on my iPhone… no such luck. You have to have the actual ad in your possession. After you have made your purchases you can go to customer service and show them the ad and they will refund your money to reflect the price adjustment. This is a little bit of a pain…but if you are buying, say 15 jars of peanut butter for the local food bank, it is worth it for that extra $0.50 each.

So..price matched at $1.48 you can use the same deal formula I posted last week…$1/1 Target coupon stacked with the $0.40/1 Skippy coupon from Sunday’s insert two weeks ago.

What great deals did you find this week? Post them here and help me jump start my journey back into the land of the semi-organized and functioning moms!!
