Finding your creative side to gifting
So, in this week’s ads I thought I would look for some hostess gifts. We have a few parties coming up during the holidays, and I always like to bring something to my hosts.
In looking through the Kohl’s ad, I found holiday dinnerware for 60% off. I bake lots of cookies and am always looking for plates for gifting my treats. Also, $5.99 holiday travel mugs would be nice with a bag of coffee. Candles and accessories are 40-50% off.
Target also had some $4 hostess gift ideas – hot chocolate mix (to this I would add a couple of holiday mugs to complete the gift) or cookie mix gift bag (I would maybe include some cookie cutters to this one).
If you’re looking for baskets to hold your gifts, Michaels has Celebrate It baskets for 50% off. There is also a bonus coupon (extra 10% off) on select holiday décor. Martha Stewart crafts 20% off coupon would be good to use for making great hostess gifts as well. Celebrate It ribbon is on sale for 50% off. Pillar candles are 2 for $3. Martha Stewart has a wonderful line of glitter and if you go to Martha Stewart, click on the ornaments and more tab, and you'll find a craft for glittering pillar candles. There are plenty of ideas to get your creativity flowing.
Please share any of your gift ideas whether handmade or store bought. I’m always looking for ways to keep things creative and fresh.

Burt's Bees is having their gift bags for sale for $25 (normally $50) and there is a ton of their products in it. You can split it up to make several some gift baskets for people.

To make the deal even nicer, the site automatically puts in a free lip shimmer and if you use code FBFAN, you can get a free cuticle cream. This code is stackable with BURT20 which is supposed to give you 20% off your purchase & free shipping. I didn't get it to work for the 20% off but I got the free shipping.
Considering how expensive Burt's Bees is, the deal is still pretty good without the 20% off.
Amazon.com has $5 magazine subscriptions so if you have someone who enjoys that, it would make a great and inexpensive gift.

A few years back, the Informed household made and gave infused olive oil. Cruets were from World Market and the corks were from Bed, Bath and Beyond. Although, with BBB's 20% off your entire purchase coupon, the cruets might be just as inexpensive there. Extra Virgin Olive Oil can be purchased in large containers at warehouse clubs.
Infusing the oil is simple: heat it gently to just below a simmer with the herbs and/or spices of your choice. Particularly nice are rosemary, garlic, chili peppers, and cracked peppercorns, in whatever combination you like. Let the oil cool completely and remove herbs and spices.
Before filling cruets, drop in a sprig of rosemary, a few cloves of garlic, some chili or peppercorns as appropriate.
The kids can even create the gift card with some ribbon, colored card stock, and pinking/craft shears.
Approximately $30-35 will create 6-10 gifts, depending on the size of the cruets.

Great ideas. I've always wanted to try making infused oils.
Thanks.

This year we made birdhouses for everyone. Used leftover scrap wood and then spent about 5 hours decorating them. We used leftover paint, pea gravel, pine needle, tree bark..whatever we found around the house. They look great!
