About those 503 errors you were seeing

Several of you took the time to e-mail or tweet at me about the 503 error messages you were seeing when posting comments.

I want to thank you for letting me know and also tell you we have a temporary solution in place. I won't bore you with the details, but suffice it to say it really had nothing to do with a traffic overload.

We handled the NCAA championship traffic with no problems. The servers don't usually even break a sweat in the dog days of summer.

I did say the solution we've developed is temporary. We're looking for a permanent one and hope to have it in place soon. Meanwhile, if you see any more of the 503 errors, please do let me know.

Did it have anything to do with the new linux kernel that came out last thursday?

I thought that Marion had identified Bearded Gnome as the LJW insider who was doing this, and that Bronze had concurred.

No, that was beobacter, but he forgot to include the poster's name, and was forever banned for anonymizing an outed poster.

It's a conspiracy, I tell ya' - the LJW was trying to get to that millionth post as quickly as possible, so they developed a devious plan to cause duplicate posts!

I had two Firefox's open at the same time. On one I was getting the message that my comment wasn't posted and on the other I was seeing my comment - posted. Smooth as silk this morning though. Any of you voting for the All Stars game? You can vote 25 times. You just go to majorleaguebaseball.com. I vote for the Red Sox and the Cards.

Multidisciplinary (Anonymous) says…

"Now..in a tange's life that would be 175,848,485,838,599 votes, correct? :)"

Uh huh.

In binary. :)

Stop playing around! Go stand in the corner until you vote! How that would work I have no idea. You figure it out. Baseball is part and parcel of every aspect of our lives. It is the warp and woof of the fabric of the universe. Hint: Vote Red Sox and Cards. 25 times. Oh! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Jonathan, you did fix it it seems from here!

but you sure are mum about what the problem is...no problem that.

I thought that Marion had identified Bearded Gnome as the LJW insider who was doing this, and that Bronze had concurred.

yes, it now can be revealed that I was the cause of all those 503 errors, I managed to hypnotize the ljworld servers and give them a series of subliminal suggestions.
darn Jonathan fed them No-Doze, slapped them around a little, and gave them an hypnotic suggestion of his own.

drat, foiled again!

I'll be baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!
