Week 1 NFL picks: Pickers agree that Chiefs should top Jags
Welcome to Week 1 of our Pigskin Picks blog. Each week, this space will have our selections for the winners of five of the biggest NFL games of the week.
We have quite a range of "experts" from the area. They include: Journal-World staffers Tom Keegan, Matt Tait and Jesse Newell; KLWN sports personality Sean Levine; Channel 6 sports director Kevin Romary; and local bar owners Jeff Hornberger (Henry T's), Jason Hoffman (Johnny's Tavern West), Steve Prososki (Yacht Club) and Wayne Martin (Wayne and Larry's).
You also are invited to pick all the games along with us at ljworld.com/pigskinpicks. Weekly winners will receive a $25 gift certificate from a Lawrence restaurant, while national winners have a chance at a trip to Hawaii among other prizes. Remember, Denver and Baltimore play tonight, so get those picks in quickly to be eligible for this week.
For Week 1, our pickers seem most confident in the revamped Kansas City Chiefs, as all nine of our pickers have coach Andy Reid winning his first game on the K.C. sideline.
