Weekend Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

On Saturday around 1:48, Lawrence Fire Medical crews responded on a possible structure fire in the 1700 block of W 24th Street. Similar to a fire call on Redbud Lane, on Wednesday morning, the caller reported a "piece of paper had caught fire". Fire crews arrived to report that the fire was out. Crews gave the all clear at 1:57.

Also Saturday morning, at 1:59 a.m. Police reported a blue 1990's Ford Mustang 5.0 failing to yield for an officer. Officers gave chase and at one point reported speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour while westbound on 6th Street near Rockledge. A supervisor called for the officer to discontinue the pursuit at 2:02. About 20 minutes later in Johnson County, Lenexa Police dispatchers advised officers of a blue 1990's Ford Mustang eastbound on K-10. The caller reported the vehicle at a high rate of speed and driving erratically on K-10 passing De Soto. Lenexa officers were not able to locate that vehicle. It is unknown if the two incidents were related.

At 2:38 a.m. KUPD received a report of three motorcycles on Mississippi Street near the Memorial Stadium parking lots that were "revving loudly". One caller to 911 also reported that he believed one of the riders was "waiving a handgun in the air." KUPD caught up with the motorcycles in one of the parking lots and conducted a vehicle stop with the bikes. No arrests were reported.

Lawrence Police responded on five disturbances and conducted four vehicle stops early Saturday morning.

As for Sunday, Police responded on eight disturbances, conducted three vehicle stops, and responded on five noise complaints.

At 3:05, Baldwin City Police responded on a report of a residential burglary in the 300 block of Baker Street. The resident returned home to find the address had been burglarized, sometime within the past three hours.

None of this weekend's early morning activity was reported to have involved any serious injuries.
