Lawrence Police responded on seven disturbances this morning. Only one resulting in an arrest for Battery.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported spotting a suspected intoxicated driver southbound on Highway 40 entering Lawrence around 2:15. The Trooper stopped that driver a short distance from his home where he was arrested for arrested for DWI.
At 2:25, Douglas County Deputies responded on one disturbance this morning in the 1800 block of N 1500 Road. Dispatchers received reports of a large fight, someone possibly someone firing a gun, and one report claiming that someone had been shot. At least four Deputies and one Eudora Officer arrived and confirmed there was no one shot. Deputies were able to breakup the remaining fighting people without making any arrests. One person was treated at the scene for facial lacerations. No other injuries were reported.
There were also three reported burglaries this morning. Eudora Police responded to an address in the 1200 block of Elm Street at 2:56 after a resident reported an "intruder" in the house. Police in Lawrence responded to the 2900 block of Topeka Lane at 4:22 after a resident reported a white man wearing a dark sweatshirt attempted to make entry. That man was last seen running westbound on foot. At 4:36, Officers responded to an address in the 1700 block of Vermont after a resident reported a man had kicked in a door. The suspect was described as a man wearing a dark hoodie and dark colored jeans, and was last seen running towards the alleyway. As of this report, no arrests have been made in any of these cases.
