Just after 5 a.m., Police were called to the 1000 block of N 3rd Street to check on a report of a pickup truck parked blocking one lane of the street. After administering Field Sobriety Tests with the truck's driver, the male was taken into Police custody. He has been booked into the County Jail on his third DWI offense.
County Deputies and Lawrence Police both responded on a few accidents this morning. Only one serious injury was reported in an accident near 29th and Haskell in Lawrence. Initially the accident was reported as non-injury or minor injury. After talking with the driver, Police learned that the man had hit his head on the steering wheel after sliding down a 10 foot embankment. Medics responded to the scene and transported the man to the hospital to be checked out for head and neck pains.
