May 28th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

From the level and type of activity Police were dealing with this morning, it was hard to tell today is Monday.

At least four officers responded on a domestic disturbance in the 700 block of Massachusetts Street around 1:40 a.m.. Medics were called to that scene about 30 minutes later for a subject with lacerations. Officers took one person into custody for Aggravated Battery. The injuries were not reported to be immediately life threatening.

At 2:15 a.m., Police were called to the 2500 block of W 6th Street after at least three callers reported hearing gunshots in the area of the apartment complex. All three callers reported that they heard three gunshots. Officers received information regarding a vehicle which was possibly related to the gunshots. There were no immediate reports of any injuries or damage.

Around 2:30 a.m., Police were called to the 1400 block of E 19th Street on a report of a damaged mailbox. As officers were investigating the first report, at least four others were found to be damaged in the same area. Most of the damaged boxes were on E 19th Street, one was on Maple Lane. There was no information available regarding suspect(s).

During the investigation into the damaged mailboxes, officers also came into contact with a subject who was reported to have a warrant for their arrest out of Missouri. That person was arrested without much of an incident.

Police in Lawrence responded on a total of five disturbances this morning. No serious injuries were reported.

The Kansas Highway Patrol also seemed to have a few Troopers in and around Lawrence this morning. One DWI related arrest was recorded before 3:30 a.m. in the 600 block of Massachusetts Street.
