Douglas County Deputies along with LDCFM responded on an assault in the 700 block of Highway 40, near Kanwaka Township, around 2:20 a.m.. A truck driver reported that he had located a female, "in the ditch," who appeared to have been the victim of an assault. Medics reported her injuries to be serious and she was transported to LMH. Deputies did not release any further information regarding what had happened to the woman.

Just after 2:30 a.m., Lawrence Police responded on a reported burglary in the 2100 block of Inverness Drive. At least six officers responded on the call. A suspect was taken into custody about a block away. That suspect is said to be facing charges of Aggravated Burglary and Burglary of a Vehicle, among other charges.

At 2:53 a.m., an officer reported a vehicle failing to yield near E 19th Street and Harvard Street. That vehicle stopped a short distance later near the entrance to the Brookwood Mobile Home Park off of E 19th Street. It was unclear why the driver did not stop sooner. As of this report, no arrests have been recorded in the county booking log.

Police also worked a non injury accident in the 2200 block of Iowa Street at 3:30 a.m.. Medics responded to this scene after one of the people involved reported suffering from a medical condition.

Officers also responded on several disturbances, a noise complaint and a drugs complaint.

Any chance to find out what went down with the LPD on thursday march 22nd behind Checkers grocery store or should I say south of the store??? It appeared as I was leaving the store the police were probing a house right there by the parking lot and one of the two cops even had binoculars. I dont know if it was a drug sting or what but seemed pretty strange as they werent going in on a house in any fast motion or anything.

Really? It took at least 6 officers to respond to this call? Six officers for 1 suspect? We all know that the 2100 block of Inverness is a high dollar neighborhood, but six+ officers to respond? What was being stolen, KU tickets?
