June 22nd Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Lawrence Police conducted at least nine vehicle stops this morning. One of those stops resulted in an arrest for an OUI related offense. Another of the stops occurred after a brief vehicle pursuit ended in the 3100 block of Ousdahl Road. At 2:21, an officer reported a vehicle driving recklessly, after a brief pursuit the vehicle stopped. The driver of that vehicle was taken into custody and faces charges of Careless Driving, Attempt to Elude and Interference with the Duties of an Officer.

Shortly before 3:45 a.m., Douglas County Deputies were called to investigate a non-injury accident in the 1300 block of Highway, just west of Baldwin City. Deputies reported a pickup truck had crashed into a ditch and came to rest on top of a guard rail. The driver of the pickup truck was eventually arrested and faces a DWI charge.

It was unclear how the incident was related to the above crash but, Deputies requested an ambulance for a pregnant female who was possibly going into labor at the same scene. Medics along with Baldwin City Fire responded to the scene. Medics transported the woman, about two weeks shy of her due date, to LMH.

Back in Lawrence, Police were called out twice to the same intersection after construction cones were moved into lanes of traffic.

Officers were involved in a foot pursuit just after 7 a.m.. The Officer called out the chase at 7:05 with a black male suspect running northbound along Ousdahl Road from 24th Street. Officers were able to catch up with the male about two minutes later in the 1600 block of W 22nd Terrace. It sounded as though the man had numerous warrants for his arrest. As of this report he has not been booked into the County Jail.

Police also responded on a couple disturbances and cited numerous parking violations in Lawrence. None of this morning’s activity was reported to have resulted in any serious injuries.
