June 18th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

This morning started off fairly routine for Police in Lawrence. A few car stops and building checks between 1:30 and 4 a.m..

Just after 4 a.m., KUPD and LDCFM were called to check on a subject who reported they were possibly bit by a spider at their on-campus apartment. The person was transported to LMH by Medics.

At 4:08 a.m., a Lawrence Police Officer reported being involved in a vehicle pursuit with a car just south of 23rd and Iowa. The vehicle was said to be driving just above the speed limit. After zigzagging towards Holcom Park the vehicle stopped suddenly in a nearby apartment complex where the driver ran from the vehicle. The Officer gave chase on foot and spotted the suspect entering an apartment. At least 8 Officers responded to assist in surrounding the building. The suspect surrendered to Police a short time later. The male suspect was booked into the County Jail on charges of Attempt to Elude, Interference with the Duties of an Officer and Driving While Suspended/Revoked. County Records show the man posted $300 bail and was released just after 6 a.m..
