January 8th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

At 1:58 a.m., Lawrence Police were called out on a disturbance in a parking lot in the 900 block of Iowa Street. After being on scene for a few short minutes, Police requested an ambulance respond to the scene for an injured subject. LDCFM responded and did not transport anyone from the scene.

At 1:59 a.m., Lawrence Fire along with Police were called to a dumpster fire in an alley behind a business in the 900 block of Vermont. One caller reported witnessing someone throwing something into the dumpster and then seeing flames visible. Lawrence Fire arrived and reported that there were flames showing and that the fire was not endangering any structures, the nearest building was approximately 15 feet away. Police arrived and reported that the witness had left the area. No other information was available regarding a possible suspect.

Between 2:15 and 2:30 a.m., Lawrence Police conducted two field sobriety tests. The first was on K-10 just before it turns into 23rd Street and the second was at 23rd and Iowa.

At 3:18 a.m., Police were called to the 700 block of Iowa to investigate a report of an armed disturbance, possibly following a non injury accident. One subject was heard yelling about a “Glock”. Officers arrived and contacted the several of the involved parties. It did not sound as though anyone was found to be in possession of any weapons and no arrests were made.

After 3:30 a.m., things quieted down for the most part. LDCFM responded on one medical emergency and LPD conducted on one vehicle stop.

None of this morning’s activity is believed to have resulted in any serious injuries.
