January 18th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Just after 1 a.m., Lawrence Police and Fire/Medical were called to investigate a possible structure fire in the 2900 block of Four Wheel Drive. One caller reported that smoke and fire was visible. Crews arrived and after searching the area for nearly 20 minutes, determined that the call was false.

Around 2:40 a.m., a Lawrence Police Officer spotted a vehicle that seemed to be avoiding him. When the Officer caught up with the vehicle, in the area of W 19th Street and Stewart Avenue, two subjects jumped out and ran. One of the subjects was quickly apprehended about a block to the east. The second subject was taken into custody a few minutes later inside one of the apartment buildings. The license plate on the vehicle had been reported stolen.

Officers also conducted two bar checks, four vehicle stops, responded on several false burglary alarms and at least three barking dog complaints.

None of this morning’s activity resulted in any serious injuries or involved the use of any weapons.
