December 4th Early Morning Law Enforcement and Fire Medical wrap up

Lawrence Police were involved in a brief foot chase in the 900 block of Ohio just after 3:45 a.m.. It was unclear why the officer was attempting to contact the subject but, the man ran from officers. He was captured and arrested a short distance away. He now faces an Interference with the Duties of an Officer charge.

At 5:39 a.m., Douglas County Deputies and Fire Medical crews were called to the South Lawrence Trafficway, just south of Clinton Parkway for a reported injury accident. The caller reported that two vehicles were involved and one had rolled after they collided head-on. Deputies arrived to report a full size Chevrolet pickup truck rolled onto its roof with the driver trapped inside the cab. That driver’s injuries were said to be serious. A LifeStar Helicopter was called to the scene and eventaully transported the man to Stormont-Vail in Topeka. The other driver was said to have some minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene. Both lanes of K-10 were closed for just over an hour as crews worked the scene. Those lanes were reopened at 6:45 and the accident was completely cleared by 7:45. The cause of the accident is under investigation. More information on this accident can be found here from Operation 100 News or my reporting partners at the Lawrence Journal-World.
