August 24th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Lawrence Police set up a perimeter this morning in the area of 19th Street and Naismith Drive for a subject involved in what sounded like, at the very least, an aggravated burglary. A woman reportedly awoke to find a man in her home. The man left and Police were called. There are a bunch of details surrounding this incident that are not completely clear and I have notified my partners at the Journal-World of these details. They will be checking on those and working to confirm them. I am sure there will be a story up on the website if there is anything worthy of reporting. I don’t want to spread rumors or speculation of something that I am not confident of it’s accuracy.

Around 3:30 a.m., Westar was showing approximately 130 customers without electricity in the area of Clinton Parkway and Kasold Drive. There was no word on the cause of the outage. As of 9:30 a.m., outage numbers are down to only two in Douglas County.

Lawrence Police conducted several vehicle stops. Three of those stops resulting in arrests. Two arrest for OUI related offenses and the third was for no proof of insurance.

None of this morning’s activity was reported to have involved any serious injuries.

The activity blogged here is only a sampling of some of the things that Douglas County Law Enforcement and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical respond on. To see a complete list of Lawrence Police activity, the department has that available on their website along with several easy to use maps that show approximate locations for Police activity.

Some of the activity blogged above was reported as it was unfolding by Operation 100 News. Learn how to receive breaking news updates here.
