April 27th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Lawrence Police conducted four vehicle stops this morning with one reported arrest for DWI. The DWI arrest was made in the 1500 block of Willow Cove. This arrest came after a person witnessed a SUV strike a “bush” in a yard in the 1500 block of Tennessee Street. The arrested driver also faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident.

The Kansas Highway Patrol also conducted a few vehicle stops on the turnpike and north Lawrence area. One arrest was made after a subject was found to be DWI and Troopers found an open container in the vehicle, near mile-marker 190 on the turnpike.

Officers in Lawrence responded on three reported burglaries this morning. The first in the 2900 block of Bob Billings Parkway just before 4:30 a.m.. Dispatchers received a report of a subject attempting to break a window. The next was reported by an officer at 4:40 a.m.. The third was reported on 911 after a suspect entered an address in the 1300 block of W 24th Street. The suspect was said to have been a black male in dark clothing and wearing black gloves. As of this report, no arrests have been recorded in any of these burglaries.

None of this morning’s activity was reported to have involved the use of any weapons or resulted in any serious injuries.

I am not a meteorologist but, this morning the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center upgraded this afternoon/evening’s severe weather risk to “moderate” levels. More on this can be found here from Operation 100 News.
