September 9th Overnight Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Lawrence Police started off the night conducting a number of Bar Checks. Several citations were written, mostly for serving to the underage.
Just after 2 a.m. LPD was called to the 900 block of Maine Street in reference to a woman who was seen breaking the windows out of a vehicle with a cinder block. Lawrence Police along with KUPD searched the area, with one sighting of the woman by KUPD, she was running eastbound and is believed to have left the area in a vehicle. Police were able to figure out who the woman is, her address and a relative's address, just down the street from where the incident occurred. The incident was classified as a burglary.
Lawrence Police also had a vehicle fail to yield, leading to a brief low speed pursuit. It began in the 1800 block of Iowa Street, the vehicle then turned eastbound onto W 19th Street. The short pursuit came to an end at W 19th Street and Naismith Drive.
LPD also checked the area of the 900 block of La Salle Street just before 3:30a.m. after a report of gunshots heard in the area.
The rest of the activity was fairly normal overnight stuff. Vehicle stops, disturbances and noise complaints.
The activity blogged here is only a sampling of some of the things that Douglas County Law Enforcement and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical respond on. To see a complete list of Lawrence Police activity, the department has that available on their website along with several easy to use maps that show approximate locations for Police activity.
