October 25th Overnight Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Not much activity in Douglas County overnight. Things kept pretty quiet. Officers responded on a few disturbances, conducted several car stops and address checks. Officers also responded with Fire/Medical on a life threatening medical call around 4:30 a.m.. Other then that one medical call, none of the overnight activity involved any serious injuries and none of the disturbances, that I heard, involved the use of weapons.

The National Weather Service in Topeka issued a Wind Advisory for Douglas County overnight. That will remain in effect until noon today.

KDOT announced yesterday that more construction is scheduled to start on Monday, October 31st on K-10. The work is being called “Emergency project.” Learn more about this project here.

If your morning drive is taking you west through Topeka using I-70, you might want to consider an alternate route. The Kansas Highway Patrol Accident Reconstruction Team remains on the scene near SE 10th Street. KDOT expects I-70 to remain closed until at least noon. The accident reportedly involves a tanker tractor trailer and a car. There is also one confirmed fatality and a Haz-Mat response has been ordered for clean up.
