October 2nd Overnight Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up
Police in Lawrence were kept busy for the majority of the overnight hours.
12 – Noise Complaints
14 – Disturbances, one involving weapons
15 – Vehicle Stops, three resulting in DUI arrests
2 – Drug complaints
2 – Fireworks complaints
2 – Animal complaints
1 – Report of gunshots heard
1 – Alcohol violation
1 – Non injury accident
No serious injuries were reported with any of the overnight activity, that I heard.
The call for reports of gunshots heard was in the area of W 11th Street and Indiana Street. KUPD and LPD both had officers checking the area. No on was located in connection with the one report. Officers did witness fireworks being shot off just a few blocks away. The same caller also advised Emergency Dispatchers of suspicious vehicles in the same area and seemed to believe that the vehicles were related to the gunshots that were heard. It was unclear if Police were able to locate the vehicles that the caller was concerned about.
The American Red Cross reminds the public that October is Fire Prevention month. Sadly, two young children have lost their lives due to fires in Kansas this month. The first was in Kansas City on Saturday morning and the second was just last night in Overland Park. More information on the Overland Park fire can be found here.
The activity blogged here is only a sampling of some of the things that Douglas County Law Enforcement and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical respond on. To see a complete list of Lawrence Police activity, the department has that available on their website along with several easy to use maps that show approximate locations for Police activity.
