A very quiet overnight in Lawrence for the most part. Police responded on most of the usual calls along with a non injury accident. Several parking violations along Mass Street and car stops throughout the city.

Police also caught up with a group that attempted to dine and dash at IHOP early this morning. Police were just around the corner when the call was dispatched, they quickly located the suspect vehicle and escorted them back to IHOP to pay the bill.

Just after 6 a.m. Police received a report of a man armed with an AK-47 at the Checkers near 23rd and Louisiana. Police arrived quickly and immediately advised that there was not a weapon involved. As of 6:30, Officers are still on scene there investigating.
