Back in Douglas County, there were a few non injury accidents, false burglary alarms, noise complaints, disturbances and car stops.
At 1:45 a.m. the Lawrence Fire Department was called to the 1200 block of Ohio Street. Emergency dispatchers were advised that the fire alarms were sounding and there was smoke visible from one of the apartments. Lawrence Police arrived on scene first and immediately reported that there was a smoke odor in the parking lot. That LPD officer was able to determine which apartment was the source and then advised that upon further investigation the smoke smelled of burnt food. The Fire Department arrived, no one came to the apartment door. LFD forced entry to the apartment. The fire was quickly extinguished and was contained to the stove. Damage was contained to one apartment. No injuries were reported.
Just after 2 a.m. a caller in the 1700 block of W 24th Street reported a homeless man with a gun who was trying to start a disturbance. Police responded quickly to find that the information from the initial call was at least 5-7 minutes old. The man had left southbound on foot before the victim called Police. While on scene with the caller another witness called 911 and reported seeing a subject matching the description walking in the 2500 block of Redbud Lane. Police responded to that area and contacted a man matching the description. It was unclear if that man was taken into custody. No injuries were reported.

Do you have info on an event where some kid T-Boned a 79 year old Marine at 7th & Tennessee then other kids pursue and follow the hit and run driver to Rick's Place and call police? Didn't find a link yet ...

I do not recall hearing anything like this. Do you have an approximate time of when this happened?
