June 10th Overnight Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Just before 11 p.m. Lawrence Police received a report of someone shooting off fireworks in the 1600 block of Pennsylvania Street. Police responded, found some debris left over from the fireworks. The subject or subjects involved had already left the area.

Right at 11 p.m. Police responded on a non injury accident in the 2400 block of Massachusetts Street.

After that all of the calls for service tended to be fairly routine in nature. A few car stops, disturbances, parking violations, building checks and a few alarms.

Early this morning at 5:39 a.m. emergency dispatchers received a call from a resident in the 1300 block of Monterrey Way reporting that their neighbor’s back porch was on fire. Police and LDCFM were dispatched to the address. A police officer happened to be just down the street when the call came out and arrived on scene very quickly. That officer was able to extinguish the fire using a fire extinguisher. He reported that the fire had not spread to the main structure and appeared to be the result of an unattended barbecue grill.

LDCFM was dispatched to the address on Monterrey Way as a full alarm structure fire response and then quickly downgraded to only one Fire apparatus with an emergency response. Other units downgraded their response but continued towards the scene. The first fire unit arrived and confirmed that the fire had been extinguished completely by Police. All other fire units cleared from the call. The unit on the scene remained there for a brief time for investigation of the incident.
