August 6th Overnight Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

An active Friday night into Saturday morning. Activity has really picked up in just the past few days as the number of students coming back to Lawrence has increased.

Police were kept busy conducting vehicle stops and bar checks throughout the night. Police also received information on an alcohol complaint in the 1300 block of Ohio.

An injury accident was reported in the 400 block of Michigan just before 1 a.m. The extent of the injuries involved was unclear however, it did not sound to be to serious.

Lawrence Police responded on a few batteries and disturbances. Just about a block away from the scene of the battery that left one man seriously injured early Friday morning, another battery was reported. This morning’s battery was in the 900 block of Massachusetts. The injuries associated were not considered serious.

Something else that occurred last night, while not directly related to Douglas County, it is an ongoing hot topic in the area. Another accident along K-10 has left one person dead and another in a KC area hospital with critical injuries. This time in Lenexa, between I-435 and Renner Road. Initial reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol indicate that one driver was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes when the accident occurred. More info

The National Weather Service has issued another Heat Advisory for Douglas County. This one will be in effect starting at 11 a.m. this morning and last until Sunday evening at 8 p.m.
