August 25th Overnight Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

No, the addresses in today’s blog are not mistakes, there really was this much activity in one rather small area.

Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical was called to the 1600 block of Tennessee Street shortly after midnight on reports of a woman injured after a fall. It sounded like the woman was found near the pool area, it did not sound like the person that called 911 was a witness to the fall or knew anything about the woman. One medic unit was dispatched to respond with the LPD. Upon arrival that medic unit requested a fire unit to respond to assist with patient care. Initial reports indicated that the woman had multiple broken bones including at least one broken leg and possibly one arm. The woman was transported to Lawrence High School where medics transferred her to KU Medical Center by LifeStar Helicopter. Police continued to investigate the fall.

At 2:30 a.m. Lawrence Police were again called to the 1600 block of Tennessee Street on reports of a subject breaking out a window and possibly attempting to make entry into a residence. The description of the suspect was vague, at best. It was unclear if any arrests were made.

Just about 3:30 a.m. Police were in the area of the criminal damage call, involving the broken windows in the 1600 block of Tennessee Street, when they made contact with a subject who was in possession of drug paraphernalia. It sounded as though that person was taken into custody

Police also handled a number of vehicle stops, burglary alarms and disturbances. I do not recall hearing a single noise complaint, which is extremely rare.

In case you have not already seen the article, The Journal World’s Shaun Hittle recently interviewed me about my work monitoring my scanners. The article can be seen here. Also, I would like to add that Operation 100 News and myself are NOT affiliated, in any way, with any of the other people interviewed or the Twitter username’s mentioned in the article.

The activity blogged here is only a sampling of some of the things that Douglas County Law Enforcement and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical respond on. To see a complete list of Lawrence Police activity, the department has that available on their website along with several easy to use maps that show approximate locations for Police activity.
