LJWorld.com weblogs Live from the Republican Convention
Country First
Editor's Note: Ryan Kriegshauser is one of three Kansas delegates to the Republican National Convention who will be blogging on LJWorld.com. Check back often to see what they're saying.![][1] Monday: Unlike most other conventions, the feeling on the opening day of the 2008 GOP convention was somewhat reserved. The thoughts and prayers of 46,000 delegates, alternates, guests, and media personnel were focused on the gulf coast, as our fellow Americans endured hurricane Gustav. Everyone at the convention was urged to contribute to the hurricane effort while right there on the floor by texting. In fact many of the events for the Kansas delegation were shortened or canceled. There is a consensus among all of the delegates that I have spoken to that this was the right thing to do. However, the protesters at the convention were not as respectful. There were widespread rumors of attacks on buses and police cars. While walking out of the convention session, a few other delegates and I walked behind a line of numerous police officers. Other than that, the protesters that I personally observed merely consisted of not more than a dozen folks. ![][2] I encourage everyone to contribute to the hurricane effort by logging on to [Causegreator.com][3] to find out what you can do to help. This is a great way for all of us to put our country first. Why is there no front page coverage of the Republican Convention? Is it embarasing that John McCain has shot himself in both feet with his vice president selection? Will she be another Thomas Eagleton?? Is it embarrasing to this notibly Republican voice that this selection is a bit difficult to fanthom why a party who preaches and pontificates on morality, chastity, righteousness, abstenance, piety, and just plain self-elevation now has to deal with a person who is similarly presented as a great christian, great moral leader, and great shot with a child who seemingly forgot the absenance part. I think for the sake of the party and the family of this Alaska governer, she should quietly slip into history, just like Senator Eagleton was forced to do. But knowing the crassness and self-righteousness of these Republicans, it is not very likely. Forge ahead!!!!!!

It was not the choice of Sarah Palin for her daughter to have sex before marriage.....No matter how well you raise your kids they make their own choices.

The word on the street here in Saint Paul is that the Republicans are going to fly in Baby Daddy (Palin's daughters bed fellow) to do photo opps with the Palin family and the now most famous Baby Momma in the country. Republican's say they want to keep family out of the public eye and yet they are flying Levi Johnston in for their convention. Hummm... isn't that hypocrisy? Let's just say the Republicans and their wholesome values message is rife with hypocrisy.
