Why Sebelius wasn't the choice
What a difference a day makes.Gov. Kathleen Sebelius spoke to the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday, and vice presidential nominee U.S. Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., speaks Wednesday night. So now that it has been a few days since Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama picked Biden - and not Sebelius, who many thought was a top contender - the question becomes why? Some have theorized that Obama realized the public was worried about his lack of foreign policy experience, so he picked the veteran senator. Others say Sebelius wouldn't have done much for the ticket in gathering electoral votes. And some have figured that because Obama didn't pick U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., he couldn't select another woman without angering Clinton supporters. What's your take?

If he had picked Clinton, I would have become a Repulican.

I don't think it would have angered Clinton supporters who were compelled into battle this year to break the glass ceiling for women in high elected office. Gov. Sebellus was a potential V.P. candidates who could have appealed to the Clinton supporters as a strong women on the ticket. My feeling, and it is only mine as far as I can tell, is Gov. Sebellus' positives mirrored but were not complimentary to Obamas. Biden offered a contrast skill set that strengthen Obama and his future administration. Remember, a primary task of the V.P. is to preside over the U.S. Senate and break deadlocks in that chamber. The Vice President, in addition to being able to fill in for the President, should be something of a legislative specialist with keen insight into how the two legislative chambers work to bring about policy and law.Obama is still a Washington outsider and so is Gov. Sebellus but having Biden on the ticket brings inside Washington wisdom and legislative experience where it is needed for the future administration in terms of passing its policies into law.

Quite honestly, she was not an exciting speaker. I doubt that she would do much to help the election either.

She never was a serious contender....the story line was 90% Kansas newspaper boosterism....witness this article.

I think that she was never a good candidate to begin with. I was not impressed by her soft peddling speech and was glad she isn't his running mate. He needs Biden, period. I was for Biden in the primaries and glad he is on the ticket. I am, however, a little surprised he came to that conclusion.
