Finally Loooking For A Warm Weekend

After a week of heavy rain the weekend looks to warm up and dry out. While some models are eluding to temperatures at or above the 90° mark, I think that most of the weekend will be in the mid to upper 90’s. Part of the reason for this is all of the rain that we picked up this week.

Here is the reason for my thinking. While a strong south wind will be in place, we are going to deal with a lot of evaporation. When water evaporates, it steals some of the heat energy that we depend on this time of year. It is the same principle that applies when we sweat. Water evaporates and actually cools the air surrounding surface.

We have picked up nearly 1.50 inches of rain in the last couple of days and that should really impact our temperatures even with plenty of sun and an abundance of wind to dry us out.

With that said, we can expect our temperatures to flirt with the 90° mark, and for our heat index to certainly be in the 90’s. A gusty south to southeast wind will dominate Saturday afternoon. Wind gusts will be near 35 mph on Saturday and should remain fairly stout into Sunday.

It might be something that we have to get used to as well. There is one system into next week that poses a problem or at least some thunderstorm chances into next week. That should come Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon and evening. Current models have that storm system swinging across the windward side of the Rockies, but a few outliers on the model runs still push it on the leeward side of the Rockies which could cause us some problems.

Bottom line is that the weekend looks fantastic and summer-like with a few isolated chances of storms trying to form late on Sunday with the best chances coming into the middle of next week… all of which are long-shots with plenty of humidity for us into next week.
