Rain Likely To Make For A Soggy Weekend

Rain has poured down this week bringing us more than a bulk of the rain for the month of May. So far the month of May has brought us 2.26 inches of rain, and as of Friday night we are 0.06 inches above average. Of that, we have picked up 2.24 inches of that this week.

Now we are heading into a weekend that is slated to bring us several rounds of rain making it tough to get the yard mowed when it needs it the most. Look for showers to begin during the overnight Friday and early part of your Saturday. The mid morning and early afternoon looks to be dry before isolated pockets of rain start to move in for the mid-afternoon. The heaviest rain still looks to be in the Western side of Kansas for Saturday evening, though we can’t totally rule out a few isolated showers.

Sunday will probably bring more showers that could influence the KU graduation ceremony. The early afternoon looks to bring some isolated showers with more heavy rain toward the evening.

With this soggy forecast we need to bring flooding concerns back to the forefront. Saturated ground will be overrun with these garden variety showers which means that runoff into creeks and tributaries start to fill up yet again. Remember not to cross water that is running over the road if you can’t actually see the pavement below.

Have a safe weekend!
