Next Severe Weather Threat – Tuesday

The warm and moist airmass moved toward Iowa Monday leaving us with highs near 80° with extremely humid conditions. Most of the severe storms, including a couple of tornado warnings, where in the extreme northern reaches of Kansas along that warm boundary.

Tuesday will be the next chapter for severe weather for us as the cooler air associated with this low pressure drives through the region late in the afternoon on Tuesday into Wednesday. Current trends will bring the front into place for the afternoon which will initiate quite a bit of thunderstorm activity across Kansas, Iowa, Missouri as well as into Oklahoma. Our main threat will be hail and damaging winds for most of the region.

This front will wipe away most of the moisture that has built into the area and leave us much milder and less humid for the workweek. Highs will stay into the 80’s for Tuesday, struggle to the upper 50’s Wednesday and then work back into the 70’s by the weekend.
