Weather books on their way to classrooms now

For the third straight year, students all across Northeast Kansas will participate in the "Weather in the Kansas Classroom" program. We develop this one-of-a-kind student weather workbook and produce it locally and distribute these free of charge to all of the schools in our area of Northeast Kansas.

While it is mainly 4th graders who participate, the individual schools determine just how these full-color, 64-page student workbooks get used. This joint project of KTKA, the LJWorld.com and 6News Lawrence has over 8,000 booklets being distributed over the next week or so.

That means I better get busy boxing and shipping these to the 59 school districts that will receive our complimentary weather educational materials.

Just as a side note ... these books, which we started here in Northeast Kansas, are also used in nearly all of the state as well as in various regions all the way from here to Texas to Florida.
