Weekend warm-up on the way

Our temperatures this week have been all over the place. We were dealing with mid 80 degree temperatures on Sunday only to grab the jackets for a high of 63° on Wednesday. This weekend will be close to 90° for both Saturday and Sunday.

A ridge of warm air and a strong south wind will combine to bring those summer-like feel to the weather as we head into the weekend. That also means that muggy afternoons will be picking up as well for both days. The result will probably bring up mixed feelings for a lot of you.

While temperatures continue to soar, we are also talking about strong thunderstorms popping up for Monday afternoon, with more showers and thunderstorms expected on Tuesday as well. With plenty of moisture positioning itself over Kansas and a cold front pushing in, it looks like our chances of strong thunderstorms will be pretty good on Monday and possibly Tuesday. That cold front will also bring our temperatures back into the mid 70’s by Wednesday of next week.
