Summer winding down?
While thunderstorms are possible in any summer, the trend during the past few weeks has been for thunderstorms that have much more jetstream support. In other words, the jetstream is farther south, helping to keep momentum to thunderstorms across the Central Plains. That’s not typical for August in most years.
That’s not to say that another round or two of hot weather is not possible, but overall when the jetstream shows more of a tendency to stay farther south across the middle of the country, we gradually see the shift from summer-type weather to fall-type weather conditions.
So, if you’re ready for the occasional heat and humidity to become less intense and less frequent, it might not be that far away. I, for one, am ready for fall.
