Severe Weather Staying South

The weather is very active to our south, but we are spared from the nasty weather here. I don’t remember seeing so many active tornado warnings on one map in quite some time. There are four active tornado warnings in Missouri, and another four tornado warnings going on in southern Arkansas. Those meteorologists have their hands full down there.

For us here in Lawrence, we have picked up 0.49″ of rain as of 9 PM, and we will see more showers and thunderstorms tonight. I don’t think that we have much of a threat for severe weather for the evening, but we could have some strong storms that might bring us some strong wind and heavy rain.

It is spring in Kansas, which means that severe weather will start popping up more often. If you have not had the chance to check the batteries in your weather radio, now is the time. It is also the time to TURN IT ON! If you don’t have a weather radio, we have teamed up with all the Dillons in northeast Kansas to sell a great portable weather radio for $34.99. It is portable and you can program it to go off for specific counties. It also comes with rechargeable batteries which is another bonus!

By the way, the count on active tornado warnings is up to 7 in Missouri and 5 in Arkansas. I’m glad I’m not working there tonight!
