An end to warm weather means more rain for Lawrence

After a couple days of temperatures above average by nearly 15 degress, those cooler, “average” temperatures are all but a distant memory for most of us. But don’t settle in quite yet, as another push of cooler air is working it’s way toward the Midwest by late this weekend into next week.

When I talk about cooler air, keep in mind, that it is all relative. The cool-down will likely only drop us to or slightly below average when it moves into place. Along with that cool air, you can expect our rain chances to jump up. Saturday looks mild with highs near 80 degrees, but as cooler air moves in from Nebraska we will probably begin to see storms spark where those airmasses meet. For us, that means storms are possible early Sunday morning and again later Sunday afternoon.

That marks the beginning of several rounds of rain and storms that will flow into the middle of next week. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to keep the umbrella handy as you head out starting Saturday evening.

Go out and enjoy the next few sunny (but windy) days before the rain rolls in and the temperatures cool down closer to the average for this time of year!
