Rain Changing To Snow

Another strong storm system is set to move across the area on Monday night and continue into Tuesday. The latest weather data indicates that we are probably going to deal with rain followed by snow for your Tuesday. When looking at this latest storm, we have to look at our current weather. Monday afternoon has brought us a number of variables that will keep any snow that falls from sticking right away. Our afternoon temperatures have been able to stabilize in the 50’s with a strong south wind that will keep our temperatures moderate to above normal for most of the evening. We also have some dry air that will work in our favor for most of the evening as well. The main concern is a strong cold front that will swing in and drop our temperatures rather quickly in the early hours of Tuesday. The main concern for the Monday evening is going to be a strong wind and scattered rain showers through 3-5 a.m. The cold air is expected to take over at that point and allow snow to fall for your morning commute. Snow amounts are likely to stay between a trace to 2 inches by Tuesday afternoon. Our ground temperatures will remain warm enough to keep much, if any, snow from sticking to the streets for you morning commute. A gusty north wind will keep visibility down with any snow that is pushing through the region through the noon hour. I expect most of the snow to die down by the early afternoon although blowing snow could still be a problem for your evening commute.
