A Heat Advisory is in effect through Monday at 8 PM. So far this afternoon we’ve had a heat index as high as 102 degrees. Some extra clouds are holding temperatures around 90 degrees, but the dew point is extremely high, around 76 to 77 degrees. And this is just the start. Weekend temperatures will range from the upper 90s to 100 degrees. The heat indices will be between 102 and 108 degrees. There are some tips to help beat the heat this weekend: 1. Avoid prolonged exposure and strenuous activity 2. Check on your neighbors, especially the elderly or those without air conditioning 3. Drink PLENTY of fluids (nonalcoholic) 4. Wear light weight, light colored, loose fitting clothing and a hat 5. Use sunscreen if you need to be outdoors
