Jayhawk drag queen likes Travolta as a woman

¢ A Miami drag queen and Kansas University alumnus thinks John Travolta does OK playing a woman in "Hairspray." The drag queen, Elaine Lancaster, is quoted in today's [Miami Herald][1].At first when he came on screen you thought ''Oh, it's John Travolta in drag.'' As the movie progressed, he became more of a Turnblad than an actor. I don't understand how somebody supposedly from Baltimore had such a deep Southern accent. He sounded like me, from the country back roads! Toward the end he did a little dance routine on the Corny Collins show. I can't imagine him maneuvering as well as he did in that fat suit. Of course there's no one like Divine (Harris Glenn Milstead). Divine was born into roles that John Waters created. I don't think he was trying to be Divine, but a Turnblad. He made it his own character. [1]: http://www.miamiherald.com/277/story/175219.html

Yes Elaine Lancaster is a international superstar Drag queen who spent almost nine years in Lawrence. She said in an interview that her day's in Lawrence were some of the best days of her life. Wow....the U of K produced a SuperStar!! Do we know of any other people who have grown to such high level of success? I googled her....Miss Elaine Lancaster and i was amazed, to say the least. She also is lovers with Colin Farrell. ...wow.

i think it's funny, mr. ramirez, that you're always offended when people say "mean things" about people who have died (notably, the cat tracker victim and the yello sub victim). yet you don't have a problem being an a**hole about people who are alive...

What is it about this guy you don't like? You have taken a pot shot at him more than once. If you took the time to get to know him you would see he is a great guy who is always upbeat and a very loyal friend to those who take the time to get to know him. I feel he represents KU very well and belongs right where he is. He worked hard to get there and earned the position. Learn to live with it.

You have some severe insecurities and may want to address them instead of lashing out at others.

At least they're not quite as bad a women that dress up like men - if you know what I mean. I mean drag Queens are somewhat amusing - but women that dress and look like men are too strange for me - kinda sad.

Does anyone really care what a drag queen thinks except for other drag queens - Lawrence must have a bunch of them. Do some of you "guys" out there have a little too much estrogen in your system do ya ? That's too bad cause real women are ALOT sexier.
