Phelps documentary to air nationally
¢ "Fall from Grace," the documentary directed by a Kansas University graduate student about Topeka's Westboro Baptist Church, is getting national media attention as its national TV debut approaches. The film, which depicts the anti-gay beliefs and demonstrations of the group led by Fred Phelps, airs at 9 p.m. Tuesday on Showtime, with several repeat showings planned. It was directed by K. Ryan Jones.A [Bloomberg News][1] reviewer offers this take on the film:The 70-minute documentary marks the filmmaking debut of K. Ryan Jones, a student at the University of Kansas who interviewed Phelps and several of his 13 children. Most appear to have inherited the loony gene; one or two have also succumbed to the temptations of the deep-fat fryer.Yet they do have one profound talent: spewing hatred._¢ George Frederickson, a KU professor of public administration, was recently flown to Glendale, Ariz., and paid $5,500 to help the City Council there talk about their ethics rules._Frederickson said Glendale must be a "gift-and-favor heaven," thanks to its sports venues and mega-events.Council members agreed they do see gifts but opted against adopting stricter limits than state law mandates. Because they all work for SRS and the prison systems there in topeka, check ou tthe book online about them, I dont recall the title but it had something to do with hate, anyway, in there it lists what their jobs are and all are attorneys, and most work for the department of corrections or SRS.....the phelps have a stronghold on topeka and its pathetic! Some bigger political people should come in and take care of that! How are you gonna work for the DOC and hate gays?? When i read that it more than confirmed the fact that the phelps dont hate gays.....the phelps ARE gay!!! when 20-20 aired the interview about them a couple weeks back and they talked with 2 of shirley phelps sons, 10 and 12 y.o, and they asked them what is a "fag?" and the boys had completely diff answers! they have no clue what that word means!! If the phelps hated gay people that much.......wouldnt it stand to reason that the kids would at least know what that word entails?? I hope that the phelps go down hard and stay down.....there will come a day when they have to answer for what they have perpertrated, and god knows.....I dont want to be within 100 miles of them on that day!!!

More publicity, which is not what we need to give these freaks.
Keep in mind anyone that may possibly seek treatment at St. Francis hospital in Topeka that one of the Phelps's is a nurse there. I would rather try to treat myself than let one of their clan assist me. If she doesn't like my lifestyle, will she try to kill me???

Fred had one relatively normal child; he is gay and left home years ago.

The above mentioned online book is titled "Addicted to Hate". It was written by a Topeka Capitol-Journal staff person. www.blank.org/addict/

It seems like they are starting to run out of steam. Fred must be in failing health. You rarely see him anymore. Once he's gone, the next generation is going to lose all their assets to lawsuits. Could it possible that the third and fourth generations won't be as consumed with hate?

Isn't it funny how the US is supposedly being punished with all these bad disasters (natural and man made) for accepting gays. Although I see a lot of animosity against gays, so I don't understand that reasoning. However, the British are very accepting of the homosexual lifestyle, and their economy is booming. Maybe God is really rewarding them because they are more accepting of all people, unlike the nastiness I see in the our country.

I'm making bumper stickers, who wants one? They will have a picture of a church with a mushroom cloud over it, and the words "Nuke The Phelps'."
Gay, straight, whatever, I'm pretty sure that if you believe in a supreme being, he would smile upon you for all eternity for your contribution to humanity if you were able to arrange for the orbital bombardment of the Westboro Baptist Church.

Actually tweakin, I was speaking more of a state police investigation, FBI investigation and KBI investigation....I dont really think andy political players can do anything, but if these agencies start to investigate westboro and where those people are stratigically placed, maybe they wouldnt hold those positions for long. The phelps have no reason to be working in the prison system. They also have no business in the welfare system when clearly they are abusive themselves.....I just hope that this is the downfall of their negativity and blatant hate for people.

I beg to differ. You've just lowered yourself down to their level. It's easy to hate. It's much harder to love, forgive, and pray for those that aren't in your church with you every Sunday.
