KU basketball coaches know the lingo

¢ KU basketball recruit Cole Aldrich says Bill Self's coach staff is up with the times when it comes to text-messaging, according to a story in the [St. Paul Pioneer Press][1] about possible NCAA regulations on text-messaging."They respect when I'm in school, and they don't text me then," Aldrich said. "Once I'm out of school, they'll text me or give me a call. After fall league games, I'll text Coach and say, 'I got 25 (points) and 15 (rebounds) and 7 blocks.' "When he gets texts from Kansas, it's in the contemporary style."It's mostly a lot of shortcut words, like 'Gr8' - they're definitely catching on to high school kids' text language," Aldrich said.¢ A finalist for the city manager position in Lawrence has been passed on again. This time, R. Leon Churchill Jr., managing director for Reading, Pa., was not selected to be city manager in Dayton, Ohio, the [Reading Eagle][2] reports. After being turned down for two jobs he was seeking elsewhere over the past several months, Reading's managing director says he will stay in the city. Did you know the NCAA considers texting in considered mail e-mail and not calling.

That came up because Calvin Sampson (New Indiana coach) is banned from calling recruits, but can text all he wants. What's even funnier is he can have his assistant call, when the player answers, he can hand the phone to Sampson.
